Explorer operation (2003-07-24)

After numerous carb cleans.

It has gone over a year since last good solid hovering. After solving problems with carburetor it was time to give it a try.

I noticed during my short test run on land that engine wouldn't always response to throttling. But the weather was fine and long time since last drive - i decided to go for it.

Everything did work well, apart from occasional lack of throttle response. Seems like engine would just "buzz" and rpms wouldn't go above 3000. Max rpm. is somewhere around 4200-4400 for this setup. But pumping the throttle lever usually helped.

Did my test spin just on the river and didn't go out on the bay, since Sevtec Explorer can be a drag to tow with 5hp Yamaha outboard (did few kilometers like that in 2001).

Did few hoverport approaches as transition in question can be challenging if everything doesn't work as it should. Nothing like transitions Barry Palmer has on his backyard, but enough for me. Everything worked satisfactory so i called it day. Gasoline meter showed just above half tank which would translate to 55-60liters (~15 gallons). Enough for the rest of my vacation and no need to go buy more.
