Back in business

Again on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM we were at the hoverport for more repairs. With cleaned and checked carburettor and new fuel filter to be installed in the fuel line we started by putting in the carb.

While my father was putting in the carb i started by checking if fuel actually flows through the fuel line. What was immediately found out was that fuel pump was not working at it's full capacity. It ran erraticely and cause for this was located at wireplug on the pump, by shaking the plug pump would either run smoothly or stop completely.

I removed the plug and it sure was oxidiced some. I scraped it clean and also folded clips in the plug tighter for better grip. After this pump ran smoothly and we realized that this could very well had been the cause for engine not to pick up revs few weeks back.

Still the new fuel filter was installed and everything checked before starting the engine. And actually engine started right away without hesitating a bit. We let it run for a minute or so and started to put in coolant.

We made a mixture which should stay in liquid form at temperatures of -25C and started to pour that in. Of course the drain valve was open at first but that was noticed rather quickly. Never have we had so much problems with air blocking the cooling system totally. We only managed to put in about 50% of the total coolant needed in the system. We tried to run the engine for short periods, loosening hoses but nothing helped until we loosened the temperature sensor to let air out.

After that it was easy to fill the system with coolant. We ran the engine until temperature gauge started to raise and system was in good operational tempature. It was time for a test drive.
