"Up's and down's"

It was windy, very windy so i didn't even think of getting out to bay, just rather running 500m up- and downstream from hoverport. Intention was just to warm engine enough to have the thermostat open and circultate water in coolant system and to make oil more easily running to drain it out of the system.
Running upstream and coming back for the first time i totally estimated wrongly the space i had for turning and almost ended running sideways to high river bank. That was close, but you live and learn.
After running about 10 minutes i noticed that now is running well in normal operating temperature. I decided to take a last run upstream and did it by taking the close shore route meaning running in the middle of riverside vegetation.

Everything worked OK up to the point where i stopped and turned the craft to head back for oil change. Engine didn't response as normally. I had to play with throttle to gain rpm and to get enough speed to rush back to river and further to hoverport. As i was trying to land the craft on logs we have at the hoverport (to prevent craft freezing to ground - if that'll happen this winter). I simply couldn't get enough cushion to raise the craft enough. Anyway time to change the oil.

Engine didn't run that good at all, but still i decided to try it out. All i did was get to the river and turned back. Something had to done before this craft could be run decently. It was really difficult to get back to ashore and we had to take those logs away for time being anyway. Engine simply didn't run so good that it would be possible to land it easily on the logs. What to do ?
