I tried to have the A/C system filled back in 1995, but that never
work. Magnetic clutch never engaged the compressor so filling was impossible. |
|
Since A/C shops seemed to be reluctant to help me out with system diagnosis
it had to be done self. It seems that their professionalism starts and
ends in filling the A/C systems. First thing to do was learn how A/C systems
in general work and what is needed in the system. By surfing on the net
i could pick up the basic system layouts and system principles. |
|
While surfing i found out that Pelican
Parts sells Porsche manuals both as binders and as microfiche, later
being very reasonably priced. I placed an order for a set of 944 83-85
microfiche and bought a cheap reader device. Also valuable asset to all
Porsche owners is part and technical reference catalog they sell. It has
exploded views of most of the parts found in Porsche models, listing part
numbers. These are also available from Type911. |

By following troubleshooting instructions given in manual it was easy
to determine that "magical" black blox in the system was not working. New
one costing $$$ and me being new to A/C repairs i hesitated bying it but
then found out about 944ecology
parts. They had just the item i needed in stock all tested with 3 months
warranty. I ordered one and that seems to have done the trick. Also replaced
all O-rings in the system with new ones from Type911
and dryer i got locally. Haven't had the system filled yet, but at least
now it passes all the tests in workshop manual. |
