Explorer operation (2001-09-23)

New day and weather good enough for another test drive.

Day started cold and cloudy, but before we got to hoverport sun was starting to shine bringing wind with it. Forecast was for 15m/s (34mph) wind at sea, but we were not going that far out to experince that.

Two of us onboard we operated first upstream to the first bridge to check everything was still working and then back pretty much the same route as i did yesterday. There was significant wind, maybe 8-10m/s (18-22mph) but i really wasn't a problem since everything was working well.

It was fun, i can tell you that !!! Whole summer wasted because of lousy radiator that seemed to be quite good, but which turned to be falling into pieces when we took it off. Didn't pay much for it, if you don't count anything else but the price i paid for it and still using the expansion tank i got with it, but still i'd advise anyone to install only new radiator to the system.

I would have hovered longer, but my wife (yup, got married a month ago) didn't feel comfortable in windy weather. I think she still remembers incident from last fall. We got back and i took my father-in-law for a ride after two months break. Why two months break you may ask ? He was the one who towed us back to hoverport when old engine ran without coolant and since then i kept him ashore to be ready to come and pick me if necessary. Now i see that trial period for the new engine is over and craft will be put back in full operation (what ever that may mean). We made the same route as before, only this time with more speed since i didn't have to worry that i may totally scare someone. Hope there will be much more days like this before next construction report is issued! Allthough, i'm kinda interested to see if the old routing of radiator hoses works with new radiator...

Tach now working and seeing it max. 3400-3600rpm makes me want more power. Quick check at EA-71 power curve shows that i'm using about 60hp of 87 available (JIS standard?). Fortunately i got that covered in a form of EA-82 still bolted in Subaru Leone STW i bought.
