Explorer operation (2001-03-11)

Even more foggy day than yesterday but no snow this time, just occasional rain. Temperature was well above freezing point and the was no sign of powder snow that was there even yesterday.

But it was really, really foggy. We stayed on area where 80% of hovering with this craft has been done and i could basically drive my eyes closed and still find my way. Visibility was down to 50-100m and i just couldn't do more than 30km/h. There was few fishermen on ice and i wouldn't want to ram into them.

After a short spin to bay we took it back to "inland". I headed to route where we last visited during no ice season at fall. This time we had slight problems with branches hanging down this time it was impossible to drop craft deep into water.

On our way back i noticed fresh set of moose prints. They must have crossed the river during we were hovering. Glad we didn't crash with moose...

As temperature was high above freezing point it was nice to drive and no problems with the engine. Too bad it was so foggy that we couldn't make the best of day.

Didn't have my GPS hooked, had it with me just incase, but i suspect we did maybe 6-7kilometers today at crawling speed.
