Engine problems

We got to hoverport and further to ice where we had left the craft yesterday due to engine problems. It was about 16:30 and sun was still shining as the days get longer and longer.

We were well prepared. We had 3 extra fully loaded 12V batteries to use, new spark plugs, new relays and misc.

As an ultimate solutions my father got there with his tractor so if everything else would fail this would do the trick. Well, at least we would get it closer to electricity.

My father did the wiring and therefore he's the man who would solve this mystery. We started to measure volts between different wires and connections and noticed that only less than 7V is going to fuel pump relay. First all of us were quite confused of what is the reason for this, but then my father started to remember the wiring diagram. First it was found that solenoid which cuts the fuel when engine is shut was loose. And soon after it was noticed that one of the electric connections had broken at some point causing only 7V to fuel pump.

These were soon fixed mostly with items i had onboard. Fuel pump started to run and we could begin trying actually start the engine. Well we did have to warm the starter prior starting. It did fire, but as soon as starting was stopped engine would not run on it's own. We tried it for a some time, but result was the same allways. Then we replaced the spark plugs with new ones and engine started right away.

I took it immediately to hoverport (only 200m) and landed it. I let it run for some time before shutting it down so that it would reach the operating temperature. It run now smoothly and there was no clue of problems anymore. It was about 19:00 when we were on our way home.
